I Love Fullsuiting So Much: Why It’s More Than Just Wearing a Costume
A fursuit is just a costume for many individuals. However, for me, and many others who are part of the furry fandom, fullsuit is a lot more than just a costume. It is an interesting and creative way of experiencing performance and fun. Every time I wear a full fursuit, I enter another world of imagination and forget all about the problems of daily life.
One of my favorite hobbies is fullsuiting because it enables me to express myself in a manner not possible otherwise. Irrespective of whether I attend a convention or a charity event, or even take pictures or interact with people, it is always fun and memorable.
What Is Fullsuiting?
Fursuit fullsuiting means being dressed in a fursuit that has all parts covering your body completely. Fullsuit fursuits usually have a head piece, body part, hand paw, feet paws, and possibly other accessories like wings, tails, and any props. Fullsuit fursuits contrast with partial fursuits because the latter lack some pieces.
Being dressed in a fursuit is being who you have designed as a character. It gives you the opportunity to live through your fursona and interact with people in a unique way.
The Joy of Becoming a Character
One of the biggest reasons I love fullsuiting is the opportunity to become someone else for a while. Daily life can be stressful, and everyone faces responsibilities and challenges. Fullsuiting offers a temporary escape where creativity takes center stage.
Once you put on the costume, something changes. The character comes to life, and your actions and interactions become a part of this process. Many fullsuiters develop their own personalities for their characters.
It gives people an opportunity to feel free from everything that holds them back in everyday life and be confident, cheerful, friendly, and creative.
Making People Smile
One of the most rewarding aspects of fursuit maker is seeing the reactions of others. Children often become excited when they see colorful animal charaOne of the most rewarding aspects of fucters, while adults are usually curious and interested.
Simple interactions such as waving, posing for photos, dancing, or giving high-fives can brighten someone’s day. Many people may never have encountered a fursuit before, and their positive reactions make the effort worthwhile.
There is something incredibly satisfying about spreading happiness through a character. Even a brief interaction can create lasting memories for both the wearer and the audience.
A Creative Form of Self-Expression
Fursuit Mania is also an amazing creative outlet. Every fursuit is unique and reflects the personality of its owner. From color choices and markings to accessories and character traits, every detail contributes to the final design.
Many fursuiters spend months or even years developing their characters before bringing them to life. Some create fantasy creatures, while others design realistic animals or completely original species.
The ability to express creativity through a physical character is one of the reasons fursuit maker continues to grow in popularity around the world.
Building Confidence
Prior to taking up fursuit maker, I was sometimes worried about engaging in social settings. Quite unexpectedly, donning the fursuit made me more confident.
The character serves as an extra layer for the wearer which provides protection from the outside world. People often realize that they can act more confidently, energetically, and expressively while wearing the costume.
It is possible that these actions will make one more confident in the real life as well. Communication skills, performance and interaction in front of the audience usually develop while doing fullsuiting.
The Convention Experience
One of the best places to indulge yourself in fullsuiting is at furry conventions. These places unite individuals that have common interests and provide the opportunity to make new friends, listen to lectures, take part in activities and wear costumes.
A walk through the convention in your fullsuit means getting into an amazing world of fantasy and creativity. All around you are amazing characters, talented artists and passionate fans.
Many conventions include such activities as fursuit parades, dancing competitions, photo-shoots and charity fund raisers.
Staying Active and Entertaining
Although many may not be aware of it, fursuit mania can actually be quite a workout. Walking around, dancing, posing, and performing within a fursuit takes stamina and energy.
Many fullsuiters find that they enjoy putting on amusing performances, either by doing a dance, putting on a comedy skit, or being playful with people. There is also the challenge of portraying a character that makes this hobby exciting.
The Amazing Furry Community
Still another aspect about fursuit mania that I enjoy is the wonderful community that goes with it. The world of furries includes many talented artists, creators, performers, photographers, and other fans.
It is common practice for people to help each other out by giving advice, congratulating on accomplishments, and being creative. If a person is in the market for their first fursuit, or even an intricate custom design, chances are there will be a helpful community willing to assist.
Bonds forged due to common interests tend to form the strongest friendships.
Challenges That Make It Worthwhile
But fullsuiting is not always an easy experience. Fursuiting may be costly, hot, and sometimes even physically demanding. And, obviously, proper maintenance is another important aspect of wearing a fursuit.
Nevertheless, the pros usually outweigh the cons in terms of fursuit maker experience. The thrill of being a part of a fictional world, making new friends, and creating good memories is what makes all the trouble worth it.
Most likely, any fursuiter would say that the pleasure from fursuit maker definitely outweighs the problems.
Conclusion
I love fullsuits because it is a wonderful mixture of creativity, performing, self-expression, and community. It enables me to give my character life, communicate with other people, and make those moments of joy which would be impossible without it.
